One of the most common issues many people have is acne but what is really acne?
Acne is a common sore that happens on the skin surface, mostly on the face and can be found on other skin surfaces on the body.
Your skin has tiny holes that is known as pores. This pores contain sweat glands as well as hair follicles. They also act as a gateway to expel dirt and toxins; at the same time allowing external nutrition to penetrate the skin tissue and nourishing the skin from within.
These pores can be blocked due to internal clogs such as dead skin cells or external dirt and bacteria. This causes your pore to inflame and swell thus resulting in a pimple or commonly known as a “zit”.
However, if this condition occurs often resulting in lots of pimples, it is then said that the patient has acne. Acne can be caused by a variety of reasons such as hormonal imbalance, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), stress, poor skin care, medication and drugs, genetics and a host of other factors. When left untreated, acne can leave scars and pockmarks that can affect skin health and aesthetics.
Effective acne treatment and management can reduce the incidence of frequent and prolonged acne breakouts andimprove skin quality by minimising scarring.
